The Background

Apex Laboratory, a medicine manufacturing company did not have a server or cloud storage set up and all the work had to be managed within the premises. During the pandemic, employees found it difficult to commute to office and work. They were also unable to access their network from outside.

The Challenge

Employees were not able to access their own data from outside the office and they also did not have a backup system for storing their pharma operations data.

Our Solution

Connected the ASUSTOR NAS to the internal network and assigned a corresponding IP to use the device internally; and configured Static IP (through Firewall) to access from outside of office, which is called Official Private Cloud (OPC).

Now, the employees are able to access their data directly from the NAS, modify and save it. This is possible using Intranet or Internet. The NAS server is integrated with the ‘Active Directory’ (AD) server using role-based access permissions already configured in the AD server. The permissions apply to the NAS storage as well.

The Result

Employees were very happy with NAS installation as they are able to take proper backup of data and able to access from outside. This helped them to work-from-home during the COVID pandemic situation.
