Background

With advanced engineering development and scientific research activities, Indira Gandhi Center for Atomic Research used large standalone servers for their day-to-day operations, storage and retrieval. The nature of their work requires a huge server set up with highly secured environment.

Abstract

An open, scalable, virtualization

‘Red Hat® Virtualization’ is an open, software-defined platform that virtualizes Linux and Microsoft Windows workloads. Built on Red Hat Enterprise Linux® and the Kernel-based Virtual Machine (KVM), it features management tools that virtualizes resources, processes, and applications giving a stable foundation for a cloud-native and containerized environment.

Challenges

This case study is aimed at addressing the major pain points encountered by IGCAR Workflow Management Department in managing their standalone servers. Their existing servers used for application development posed a major challenge in terms of end-of-life hardware.

Let us describe the solution provided by Arrow Technologies using their expertise in infrastructure management to give a complete resolution.

Solution

Arrow Technologies deployed 3 Huawei Rack servers complemented with 1 SAN Storage.

1 RHEV Server acts as the Manager, 2 servers configured in 2 Node Cluster mode with Active-Active (High Availability) for 6 nos. 1 Virtual machine for redundant backup and for users to login and retrieve data.

Results

Arrow Technologies successfully configured the RHEV cluster, which is now 2 years old. The client is highly satisfied to work with the cluster servers without any interruption and any delay in data retrieval.
